The Blessed Ganja and Entheogenic Euphoria [Fire Lyte]

Wed, 07/14/2010 - 10:12pm

Controversy has never been a subject that I’ve shied away from, and today’s topic is up there with some of the big ones. Drug use and abuse is a worldwide epidemic affecting whole economies, sociological structures, and is responsible for some of the worst and most pervasive crimes humanity commits. People spend their entire lives attempting to understand the complexities behind the psychological concept of addiction, the criminological concept of drug sales and the status it brings, and the eco

Dream Herb Shaman Medicine: A Discussion [Alfred Willowhawk, BMsc, RMT, CTM, Shaman]

Wed, 07/14/2010 - 10:12pm

What is Dream Herb, and how is it used? Is this something new? Is the usage of this herb an excuse for recreational and illegal usage of natural and legal herbs?Well, it is NOT new, nor is it an excuse for recreational usage of substances. The preparation and usage of Dream herb is sacred, and should be utilized with respect, and for the purpose intended. Shamans and shamanic practitioners all over the world have been helping individuals for generations utilizing na

Vagabonds, Jugglers and Popes: Tarot Reborn [Fiona Morgan]

Wed, 07/14/2010 - 10:12pm

From earliest childhood I’ve been a very visual person. In fact, on some level, I first realized I was a Pagan (or at least wanted to be) at the age of ten, when I read a beautifully illustrated book of Greek myths. The intricate drawings and bright colors of those illustrations are probably the reason those myths have stuck so close to me all these years. The images helped me understand that art could be more than pretty pictures; that it could somehow convey a truth not otherwise articulated.

Superman: The Witch of Krypton? [Phoenix Forestsong]

Wed, 07/14/2010 - 10:12pm

Just tonight I watched the incredible two part film Kill Bill. Is it gruesome? Yes. Is it incredibly violent? Yes. Is it choc full of philosophical and introspective moments? Well…sorta…yeah. Regardless of its classification, it is an incredibly awesome visual experience with a plot that is a unique, demented, and twisted journey into the minds of Uma Thurmon and Quentin Tarentino. In fact, it may say more about Uma, as far as I understand it personally; the character of “The Bride” was h

The Place of No Pity [Bob Makransky]

Wed, 07/14/2010 - 10:12pm

“For the nagual Julian, self-importance was a monster that had three thousand heads. And one could face up to it and destroy it in any of three ways. The first way was to sever each head one at a time; the second was to reach that mysterious state of being called the place of no pity, which destroyed self-importance by slowly starving it; and the third was to pay for the instantaneous annihilation of the three-thousand-headed monster with one’s symbolic death.” – Carlos Castaneda, The

The "Unkown Them" Concept [Dragonofthedawn]

Sat, 07/10/2010 - 8:40pm

The and quot;unknown them and quot; consists of everyone outside of our chosen belief system: both traditional and personal. It is represented by all the various religious systems, the agnostics, the atheists, and the confused. It can be composed of individuals, small groups, large organizations, and the eclectic egregore, this is perhaps the reasoning for the amorphous term, and quot;the unknown them and quot;, as it represents a continually changing and progressive energy. An egregore is a collective group mind, or a t

Andrieh Vitimus and the Choronzon Ritual [Ki'a Dragon]

Sat, 07/10/2010 - 8:40pm

This is for all the friends who were asking about The Dissolving Edge of Darkness and the Star Ritual that I attended at ConVocation 2010.The books are correct when they say you will never walk out of a powerful ritual of Ceremonial Magick understanding everything that happened. I had seen something, but it took me a little time, distance and a good nights sleep to fully understand what the frak had happened.Did I mention this was my FIRST real ritual with others? I can so some p

The Ever Practical Witch [Serendipity]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

People in the magical community frequently talk about how witches “really” did things back in the “good old days, ” verses how we do them now (i.e., trying to emulate our ancestors) . But I sometimes think that we’re looking at this all wrong.I believe, for a variety of reasons, that witches occupied themselves with what they believed to be very practical magic and they used very practical tools in the practice of that magic. To a witch of old, one who did not have our modern unde

The Law of Attraction: Where's MY Money Tree?! [Fire Lyte]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

Before today I’ve made nods to my views on the various laws of magical practice. There’s the threefold law, the law of attraction, the law of association, the law of synchronicity, the law of contagion, and on and on and on. There are laws that contradict themselves and laws that specifically contradict other laws. An easy example of this is the Law of Attraction v. Law of Negative Attraction. The Law of Attraction basically states that ‘like attracts like.’ Whatever you put out into the

Our Stuff... [Sylvia]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

I’ve read tons and tons of how-to Witchcraft books, tons on the practices of Wicca. In a small town if you want to be a witch that’s how you go about it. There was no choice, I had no elder, no teacher but the written word. In all of these books there was a huge emphasis on ritual tools, which is par for the course. Then there were rules about the tools: How you should receive them. How you should use them. What to use when and where. I attempted to follow all the guidelines as they were

Why Christians Fear Pagans [Wyzard of Wyldwood]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

Diana gave me her frowny face – “I can’t believe you let her get away with that.” I kept my expression carefully neutral. “She is indeed ‘getting away’ - but what specifically are you referring to.” I had just enough time to get to the end of my sentence before hearing her tires squealing as she peeled out of the driveway.“That whole ‘I’m a victim’ thing, ” Diana growled. She is young, and young Pagans must often learn to get past their anger with the dominant religion of our mai

Homeopathy is Witchcraft? Um... [Rushyo]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

Many of my friends and peers have been discussing a motion by the British Medical Association's Junior Doctor's Committee which has the potential to offend various practitioners of Witchcraft and has seemingly being received with a mix of humourous banter, dismissal and annoyance. The Doctor who proposed the motion stated, in unequivocal terms, that 'Homeopathy is Witchcraft'. This article is intended to provide a broad understanding of the history of both Homeopathy and Witchcraft for the benef

Good vs. Evil…Light vs. Dark. What Is The Truth? [Sleeping Moon]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

I understand that in writing this article, I might (more than likely) get some uproar about it. I'm willing to spout off what I am thinking and am willing to accept the consequences. I'm going to go ahead and start off scientifically (in the very loose definition of the word) instead of magickally. Even in magick, science has its place. The color black is the absorption of all colors. The color white is the absence of all colors. If you hold a crystal to the sun, the rays of the sun will

Quantum Gods [Úlfarr Skáldisson]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

Niels Bohr, one of the pioneers in the field of quantum mechanics, once said, “Anyone not shocked by quantum mechanics has not understood it.” The strange things that physics at the quantum level has revealed to us over the past century boggle even the greatest of minds; and yet it is not conjecture, not new-age postulation, but real, hard science. It is beyond the scope of this article to explain quantum mechanics, but I will summarize here two basic elements. In laboratory enviro

Words Have Power - Defining Wicca [Matthaios]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

Probably everyone in the magical community has heard the statement that and quot;Words have power and quot;.In fact, I would go so far as to say that most people in English speaking countries have heard this phrase. This concept certain finds itself in the stories of creation in a number of cultures. Hindu cultures speak of the sound of creation: AUM. Jewish and Christian creation stories tell of God creating the Universe through spoken word: and quot; And God said... and quot;Certainly, as Pagans, we understand t

The Answers You Seek [Lady Wolfwind]

Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:20pm

My daughter tells me that the answers that I seek are in the Bible. Oh, if she only knew. She doesn’t know me very well. I laugh to myself. I don’t seek any answers. I am at total peace within myself. I know that the answers will be revealed to me when I am ready. The more you chase after them, the least likely you are to find them at all.True, at one point in my life I ran here and there. I was never satisfied. I was always reading and questioning everything. Surely, the great knowledge

Cell Phones: A Rude Awakening [Nathaniel Jeffers]

Sat, 07/03/2010 - 9:00pm

The modern age has introduced a wide array of colorful new media vices and technological breakthroughs. We live in a high-paced world of instant gratification where everything we could ever want or need is simply a mouse-click away. Perhaps among the most influential aspects of the 1990’s was the widespread affordability of cell-phones. It seems as though everyone now owns these devices, which prior to the 90’s were available only to the wealthy and privileged classes of high society. As cellula

The Oak King and the Holly King Revisited [Rose Hollow]

Wed, 06/30/2010 - 10:00pm

“A little longer...what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.” my mantra while I meditate during the heat of the day. I am becoming one with the plants at midsummer. My roots are in the ground, my petals collecting sun rays and preparing for my own photosynthesis. I have to push past my barrier, my own comfort meter screaming and about to burst. “A little more....” I am sweating profusely with my eyes shut tight, a practical measure more than metaphysical one due to the fa

The Mysteries and Esoteric Witchcraft [Rhys Chisnall]

Wed, 06/30/2010 - 10:00pm

“The most beautiful and profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. He to whom the emotion is a stranger: whom no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms- this knowledge, this feeling, is at the centre of true religion.” – Albert Einstein One of the harde
